Mashpi Lodge

Scroll

Set deep within the heart of Ecuador’s Chocó cloud forest, Mashpi Lodge is a strikingly modern retreat designed to immerse guests in one of the world’s most biodiverse ecosystems.

Perched at 950 metres above sea level, the lodge is enveloped by lush, mist-shrouded forest and offers floor-to-ceiling glass walls that bring the outside in – allowing guests to observe the local flora and fauna from the comfort of their own room. With just 24 rooms and suites, Mashpi maintains an intimate atmosphere and is renowned for its exceptional guiding, cutting-edge research centre, and commitment to conservation and sustainability. The lodge featured in the BBC’s “Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby,” highlighting its unique blend of luxury and ecological purpose.

Guests can explore the surrounding forest via a network of trails, waterfalls, and canopy-level experiences such as the Sky Bike and Dragonfly gondola. Expert naturalist guides lead day and night walks, offering insights into the region’s extraordinary wildlife. Back at the lodge, the restaurant serves gourmet Ecuadorian cuisine with panoramic views, while the spa provides a tranquil space to unwind.

The wildlife – especially in the Galapagos was superb + lived up to expectations. Our real Galapagos highlights were sub-aquatic – the marine life being spectacular – whales, manta rays, stingrays, sharks, sea lions, marine iguanas, octopi, plus so many huge fish!
