Camps Bay Retreat

Scroll

Camps Bay Retreat is a luxurious five-star boutique hotel set amidst a four-acre private nature reserve in Cape Town. The accommodation is in a beautifully preserved Victorian manor house with stunning views over lush gardens to Camps Bay and the Atlantic Ocean beyond.

There are 14 elegant, individually styled rooms, from premium rooms to spacious suites. All are large, airy and bright with smart and stylish décor and modern private bathrooms, air-conditioning, satellite TV, DVD players, safety deposit boxes, telephones and complimentary WiFi access.

The estate surrounding the hotel has four separate swimming pools, a tennis court, spa and trails to waterfalls and meditation spots. There is an emphasis on relaxation so the hotel offers a sauna with a full range of spa treatments and facials, and a gym.

There is a fine dining restaurant on site serving three-course gourmet cuisine produced with fresh local ingredients from the markets, and there is an excellent wine selection to complement the cooking.

Camps Bay Retreat is within walking distance of Camps Bay and the Glen beaches, and other city attractions can be accessed on a short drive.

The retreat is in the process of reintroducing native flowers, trees and plants to the estate and many are already well established. Guided walks with the resident horticulturalist can be arranged: the fynbos plant varieties are particularly interesting to see.

We have just received the feedback form from you for our recent trip to South Africa which I will fill out shortly but I also wanted to thank you personally for organising us such a fantastic trip. The sheer variety of scenery and activities was amazing and the accommodation was uniformly excellent. We enjoyed good weather for our first few days in Cape Town allowing us get the best from Table Mountain as well as travel down to the Cape of Good Hope. A storm front did give a couple of wet days but this had little impact on our wine tasting in Franschhoek. In Hermanus we were fortunate to spot an early southern right whale as well as a humpback. We absolutely loved Montusi mountain lodge – what a view! We were also glad we visited the battlefields and the drive to Fugitive’s Drift lodge was quite enjoyable although I will never complain about potholes in the UK again. The suites at Tanda Tula were amazing and well beyond anything we have previously experienced on safari. The wildlife viewing for mammals was excellent with great sightings of lions and rhino in particular. Once again, many thanks and it’s now time for us to start our diet as we ate and drank rather too well.
