Built in 1910, by the famous Sarkies brothers – Iranian businessman who developed a hospitality empire in South-East Asia at the end of the 19th century – this is one of Indonesia’s oldest hotels. It still retains a grand colonial charm and many original features including stained glass windows, terrazzo floors, grand balconies, and verandas. It is now five star rated and comes with modern facilities and amenities to help guests enjoy their stay.

There is a variety of dining options, including the Roof Garden; Toko Deli cake shop; Sarkies Restaurant; Indigo Restaurant; and the Maj Pub and Dine. This provides a choice of cuisines and dining atmospheres, ensuring there will always be something to suit your mood. The Lobby Lounge bar serves a selection of beverages and cocktails, as well as high tea.

All of the room son offer are decorated opulently and retain their old fashioned charm, echoing the hotel’s long history. Garden terrace rooms are the standard category, with a private terrace overlooking the wonderful gardens. The executive suite is larger and features a lounge area, whilst the Majapahit suite is larger still, with more opulent décor and a grandiose lounge area. The 806 sqm Presidential suite is the largest and most impressive in South East Asia featuring two large bedrooms, lounge area, meeting rooms and a large private terrace.

Located in the entertainment district of Surabaya, the hotel is a short walk from many of the town’s famous offerings. Explore the Dutch colonial town centre, the Arab quarter and bustling Chinatown. Watch a theatre performance in the Taman Remaja park, explore food and crafts markets or visit one of the many museums and statues. There are also extensive shopping opportunities.
