Lodge de la Saline

Scroll

This environmentally conscious lodge has been constructed using two-thirds natural materials and 100% recycled wood. Services are largely powered by solar energy, and an organic farm provides a lot of the produce served in the restaurant. Located in the Delta, the lodge is in close proximity to the Salines of the Salinere Company, which are open for public visit all year round. During harvest season, guests are offered the chance to experience a day as a real salt worker, learning the history, traditions and harvesting methods.

There is a wide variety of accommodation available at the lodge, with options including four person villas; two-person cottages or bungalows; and camping tents set up under shaded canopies. Although they are not luxurious, the accommodation here offers perfectly sufficient comfort in a spectacular area, and is very eco-friendly.

The restaurant offers tasty dishes assembled using organic produce from the farm at the heart of the lodge. Additionally, the location in the Delta grants access to the sea, providing ultra-fresh seafood for guests to enjoy. The bar is open 7am – midnight, offering a range of beverages as well as tapas dishes and bar snacks. Drinks and nibbles can be enjoyed on the terrace overlooking the lagoon, or with friends around the billiard table.

Large variety of lemurs, indri and sifakas in different surroundings. Watching families leaping from tree to tree was enthralling. Chameleons, from a two day old hatchling to larger ones displaying their unusual movements was captivating. Beautiful and unusual birds in a variety of habitats. Watching a kingfisher wait, catch and then consume a large crab was a highlight.
