Pachira Lodge is one of the smarter properties in Torguguero, set in lush gardens on the other side of the canal from the beach. Each comfortable room has en suite bathroom, hot water and ceiling fans, and all meals are served as buffets, giving a good choice. Daily inclusive activities are laid on including a wildlife boat ride along the jungle-fringed waterways and a visit to Tortuguero Town, and optional turtle watching tours are run in season. The trip to and from the lodge can be an adventure in itself.
34 acres of grounds, restaurant, bar, turtle-shaped swimming pool,
Sloths, various monkey species, fresh water turtles, caiman, sea turtles (various seasons), various bird species including many species of hummingbird, iguana and other reptiles,
Most activities are included in the package price, but you can opt for extra boat trips if required and to go turtle watching in season, and fishing. Early morning tours are also an option, good for birdwatching.
In the rainy season, May to October, this Caribbean side of Costa Rica enjoys drier conditions than the rest of the country. July to September is the time when green turtles come ashore to lay their eggs.

Thank you for sorting out our recent Costa Rica Tour. We had a really marvellous time in this beautiful country….. We both really wanted to express our thanks to ( your representatives) who provided a first class service all the time…. We were very lucky with the guides that we were allocated as we saw everything on our wildlife “hitlist” – macaws , 3 types of toucan, all 4 types of monkey, both types of sloth (and with babies!), and not forgetting the resplendent quetzal. We know that other people were not as lucky as us and I’m sure that a lot of this is down to the quality of the guide. So, a fantastic holiday and I know that we will be going back to Costa Rica.
