Rann Riders Camp

Scroll

Rann Riders Eco Lodge is a welcoming, family-run resort located near the bird-rich wetlands of Dasada in western Gujarat. Designed to resemble a traditional village, the property offers a peaceful atmosphere with winding paths, lush gardens, and private cottages that blend regional architecture with eco-conscious design.

Accommodation consists of 27 cottages, inspired by the traditional kooba and bhunga homes of local communities. Built using sustainable materials and decorated with handcrafted details, each cottage offers a warm, earthy ambiance along with modern comforts such as air conditioning, en-suite bathrooms with hot water, and cane-framed twin or double beds.

The main building features a relaxed restaurant serving buffet-style meals, with standout Tandoori dishes and a selection of continental and regional Indian cuisine available à la carte. Guests can unwind between safaris at one of the lodge’s two swimming pools, or enjoy the sunshine in a quiet lounge area surrounded by native plants.

Rann Riders is an ideal base for exploring the Little Rann of Kutch, home to the endangered Asiatic Wild Ass, desert foxes, and over 250 bird species. The lodge offers a variety of safaris—4×4 jeep, camel, horseback, and walking tours—as well as excursions to nearby artisan villages and cultural sites like the Modhera Sun Temple and Dholavira.

Facilities

Private bathrooms (hot-water), restaurant, bar, air-conditioning, swimming pool and laundry service. Please note: as Gujarat is a dry state, no alcohol can be purchased at this lodge.

Local Wildlife

The nearby Little Rann of Kutch is the last stronghold of the Asiatic wild ass and herds of these elegant equines can be seen on most excursions. The sanctuary is also a great place to observe nilgai, (blue bull), chinkara (Indian gazelle), blackbuck, jungle cat, golden jackal, Indian fox, Indian hare, Indian wolf, striped hyena and desert wildcat. The Little Rann of Kutch is also an excellent birding area and has been designated a RAMSAR site for its importance for wintering water birds.

Optional Activities

Safari excursions into the Little Rann of Kutch sanctuary, camel and horseback safaris and camel cart rides and excursions to local tribal villages.

Despite flight delays we were warmly welcomed and had efficient transitions in India. In the UK, you couldn’t have been more helpful – “above and beyond” at all points of contact. Thankyou!

[Our experience of the Snow leopard group tour] Is hard to put into words! No genuine expectation of seeing snow leopards – just hopeful, but to see two shortly after arriving at Uley was outstanding. They were so beautiful. Also saw wolves, Tibetan fox, eagles, ibex and lots of urials.
