The Last House

Scroll

The Last House is a peaceful Sri Lankan boutique hotel on the south coast where you can easily relax or enjoy visits to see the stunning wildlife, culture and heritage nearby.

Located near Tangalle, it is the late architect Geoffrey Bawa’s final example of his world-renowned designs seen all around Sri Lanka, and is colourful, airy and stylish in a way that makes you feel at home. The building and the rooms are spacious and open to make use of the sea breeze to cool the rooms down. In 2022 air conditioning was installed to ensure comfort for those for whom ceiling fans are not enough.

After a long day exploring in the national park or out whale watching you can take a dip in the swimming pool or go for a swim in the sea on the wonderfully quiet beach at the end of the garden.

The fact that there are no TVs in the rooms means it does encourage a peaceful atmosphere and that you are on the beach, away from anything, makes for the most relaxing stay you can have in Sri Lanka.

To make things even better, the food is delicious and the staff are wonderfully attentive.

The Last House can be booked for parties of friends of family, or rooms can be individually booked.

“It was a very good tour in every respect…Anyone fortunate enough to get [our guide] as their guide will have met an excellent ambassador for Sri Lanka. It was a perfect mix of culture and wildlife and overall a very good mix of hotels.
