The Sarai at Toria is a charming riverside retreat in Madhya Pradesh, India, offering a tranquil escape near the Khajuraho temples and Panna Tiger Reserve. Designed in a village-style aesthetic, the retreat features eight independent cottages built with mud and thatch, blending seamlessly into the natural surroundings while providing spacious and comfortable interiors. Founded by conservationists Dr. Raghu Chundawat and Joanna Van Gruisen, the Sarai at Toria is committed to sustainable hospitality and responsible tourism. Local Wildlife
Mammals: Bengal tiger, leopard, Indian wolf, dhole (wild dog), striped hyena, caracal, sloth bear, chinkara, nilgai, chital, sambar, gaur, wild boar.
Reptiles: Gharial, mugger crocodile, Indian python, Russell's viper, Indian monitor lizard.
Birds: Indian vulture, pied hornbill, Indian spotted eagle, steppe eagle, peafowl, white-throated kingfisher, migratory ducks and waders in winter.
