Uga Bay Resort
Although too large to be a true boutique hotel, Uga Bay Resort has tried to introduce that concept to Passekudah, a picturesque sandy bay north of Batticaloa on the east coast. The luxury family-friendly hotel has spacious, well-appointed rooms with very comfortable beds and all modern conveniences. Outside there’s a beach bar, large swimming pool and wide, sandy beach with calm, warm water.
The restaurant serves delicious, varied buffets with interesting local dishes (some very spicy) and private dining is available on request. Uga Bay is really good for families and honeymooners alike, and confers a sense of style on Passekudah Bay.
Facilities
Restaurant, swimming pool, bar, air-conditioning, fan, beachfront location, massage service, laundry service, DVD, TV, balcony/terrace, safe, rain shower, free WiFi, 24hr room service.
Local Wildlife
Mainly sea and shore birds, and marine life on the coral reef.
Optional Activities
Boat trips, snorkelling, diving, jet skis, visiting the Dutch fort at Batticaloa or the ancient ruins of Polonnaruwa.

There isn’t much to do in the immediate area besides swim and relax by the pool or sea – unless you’re a diver, in which case there are some interesting scuba sites such as a WW2 wreck. Diving is booked at a nearby dive operation.

Our guide was excellent being knowledgeable, interesting, trustworthy and a good travel companion. I would unhesitatingly recommend him to your future clients. Yala was undoubtedly the highlight of the tour and from a wildlife point of view exceeded our expectations. My wife and I have had a thoroughly enjoyable two weeks in Sri Lanka. Everything ran smoothly and there were no major faults. Astounding scenery and wildlife, friendly people and delicious food.
We will certainly consider using Reef and Rainforest again. Thank you for putting together a wonderful itinerary which covered all our needs in the time available. A return visit to see other parts of the island will be on our list!
