Vayal Veedu

Scroll

Vayal Veedu is a tranquil farm retreat on the edge of the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary in Wayanad, northern Kerala. The lodge offers just four furnished suites, each with panoramic views of the surrounding paddy fields and forest. Traditional building methods and locally sourced materials give the lodge an authentic, rural character. Guests can expect warm hospitality, organic farm-to-table cuisine, and a deep connection to the rhythms of this landscape. The lodge’s proximity to Muthanga allows for excellent wildlife sightings, including elephants, deer, and a rich variety of birdlife.

Days begin with birdsong and mist drifting over the fields, and unfold with gentle walks, visits to tribal villages, or quiet contemplation on a shaded verandah. The absence of modern distractions such as television and Wi-Fi encourages a slower, more mindful pace. Whether enjoying a traditional Kerala meal prepared with ingredients from the lodge’s own farm, or watching the sun set behind the Western Ghats, guests will find Vayal Veedu a restorative haven.

Facilities

Four spacious suites with private verandahs, organic farm-to-table dining, no Wi-Fi or television, 24-hour front desk, barbecue area, fireplace, outdoor seating.

Optional Activities

Birdwatching, guided forest trail to tribal village and temple, nature walk along Muthanga periphery and in-house plantation, seasonal farming activities, cycling, fishing and forest walks.
