M/V Plancius

Originally built in 1976 as an oceanographic research vessel for the Royal Dutch Navy, the M/V Plancius is now a purpose-built polar expedition ship – part of the Oceanwide Expeditions fleet – offering immersive voyages in the Arctic and Antarctic. Rebuilt in 2009 to accommodate 108 passengers, she combines rugged ice-strengthened capability with the comfort of a well-appointed expedition vessel, featuring spacious observation decks, Zodiac landing craft, and a dedicated team of guides and crew focused on exploration and education.

Facilities

Restaurant/lecture room (open seating), observation lounge with bar and panoramic windows, 24-hour beverage station (tea, coffee, water), library, small souvenir shop, clinic with English-speaking doctor, ship-to-shore satellite communications, laundry services, open bridge policy, large open deck spaces with walk-around access on Deck four, ten Mark V Zodiac boats, two gangways for efficient Zodiac boarding, private bathrooms in cabins (toilet and shower), ample storage space, hair dryers, flatscreen TVs, and 220V electrical outlets (European-style) in every cabin.
