Northern India Group – In Jim Corbett’s Footsteps
Tour Introduction
This short escorted group tour centres on the extraordinary Corbett National Park, named after the heralded trophy hunter turned naturalist, Jim Corbett. Corbett National Park is distinctive amongst India’s other parks and tiger reserves for its varied topography and elevations, and its impressive range of habitats. Set in the lush foothills of the Himalayas, Corbett climbs from steamy lowland jungles at a few hundred metres elevation all the way up to 1,300 metres above sea level, where oak, pine and rhododendron predominate. The Ramganga River runs through the park’s centre, dissecting it in two while also forming a large reservoir at its core. The diversity of ecosystems supports an ecological diversity matched in few other places on the Indian subcontinent.
The tour begins in Delhi and includes half a day’s sightseeing at some of the capital’s best cultural sites. There follows six nights in and around Corbett National Park, staying at two highly regarded lodges where multiple safari drives and guided hikes are included. This is an exemplary wildlife adventure to Jim Corbett’s wild Indian frontier with its ‘man-eating’ tigers and leopards for the intrepid natural history enthusiast who wants to experience some of the best of India’s fabulous wilderness.
Some 30 species of mammal are present in Corbett, including Asian elephant, Bengal tiger, sloth bear and leopard. Regarding bird species – of which there are over 600 recorded within the park – you might encounter great hornbill, Pallas’s fish eagle, koklass pheasant, cheer pheasant, tawny fish owl, spot-bellied eagle-owl, blue-throated barbet, black-crested bulbul and rufous-bellied niltava. The scenery and habitats will be equally as enthralling so please do seriously consider joining this new group tour and see incomparable Corbett for yourself.

It was absolutely amazingly fabulous. Wonderful, wonderful sightings of The Ghost. We were so very very fortunate and privileged to have been able to see, not once but each day this amazing cat. Words really cannot describe the trip. I have wanted to do it for so long and not only did it come about but I had spectacular views of the premier Cat. I cannot thank you enough for making a dream come true.
